Speciality chemicals and ingredients distributor IMCD N.V. has announced a key leadership transition within its European operations, appointing Christoph Garbotz as the new Managing Director for Germany.
Effective 1 January 2026, Garbotz will assume responsibility for the management of the Germany, Austria, Southeast Europe, and Switzerland region. He succeeds Lars Wallstein, who is departing the company.
Christoph Garbotz expressed his outlook on the new role:
“I’m excited to take on this role and continue working with our teams in Germany, Austria, Southeast Europe and Switzerland. They are the ones who make our successes possible. We have strong relationships with customers and suppliers, and there is real opportunity to grow together. I look forward to building on what has already been achieved and supporting the next chapter for the region.”
Internal Succession and Track Record
Garbotz’s promotion reflects a strategy of internal talent mobility. He brings a robust track record within the organisation, having joined IMCD in 2020 as a Business Unit Manager overseeing Pharmaceuticals, Beauty and Personal Care, and Home Care in Germany.
His executive experience includes a tenure as Managing Director of IMCD Switzerland starting in 2022, where he successfully led the integration of DCS Pharma and fortified the company’s market position. Most recently, he served as Director Principal Management for the Pharmaceuticals Business Group.
Strategic Focus
According to the company, the appointment signals a continued focus on three core pillars: organic growth, customer centricity, and the deepening of supplier collaborations across the region.
Andreas Igerl, President EMEA and Industrial Business Groups, commented on the appointment: “Christoph Garbotz understands our culture, our people and the markets we operate in. His appointment builds on his experience working with teams and partners across multiple markets. It also reflects IMCD’s continued focus on organic growth, customer centricity and close collaboration with suppliers. I’m confident he will continue to build strong momentum across the region.”
