Finnish food company Fazer has completed the acquisition of Swedish confectionery manufacturer Konfektyrfabriken Aroma AB, following the initial transaction announcement in May 2026. The deal secured all necessary regulatory approvals and was finalised on 15 June 2026.
The transaction is designed to support Fazer’s broader growth strategy, particularly by expanding its footprint across the Swedish and Nordic confectionery markets. The financial terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
Operational Footprint and Regional Impact
The acquisition includes Aroma’s complete manufacturing operations and its workforce of approximately 100 employees. Fazer will assume control of Aroma’s three Swedish production facilities, which are located in:
Stockholm
Eskilstuna
Bengtsfors
Aroma will be integrated directly into Fazer Confectionery’s Candy Business Unit. The addition of these assets provides Fazer with established local production capabilities in Sweden, helping the group secure supply chain resilience in its key target markets.
Christoph Vitzthum, President and CEO of Fazer Group, stated that the transaction enables both organisations to combine their respective strengths to develop a more competitive, consumer-centred confectionery offering.
Integration and Product Portfolio
The acquisition is intended to strengthen Fazer’s market share in the Nordic sweets sector, with a focus on pick and mix, packed candy, and seasonal product lines. Founded in 1921 by Gottfrid Eklund and Max Forslund, Aroma has built a strong market presence in Sweden, reporting net sales of 451 million SEK (£33.1 million) for the 2025 fiscal year.
The integration brings several established, classic Swedish confectionery brands into Fazer's existing portfolio:

❤️ Röda Hjärtan – Red jelly hearts popular in packaged and seasonal selections.
🐸 Gröna Grodor – Fruit-flavoured green jelly frogs.
🍬 Gräddkola – Creamy, traditional Swedish toffees.
By incorporating Aroma's production infrastructure and local product expertise, Fazer plans to scale these traditional lines while leveraging its broader distribution network to drive sales across the wider Nordic region.
