Calise Bakery has expanded its packaged bread portfolio with the launch of Higher Fibre Soft Kaiser Rolls and Higher Fibre Soft Sub Rolls.

The new product introductions pair elevated dietary fibre and protein content with lower net carbohydrates and reduced caloric density, while retaining the soft crumb texture and fresh-baked taste of traditional bakery rolls. Merchandised across retail grocery accounts, the line extensions are engineered to provide consumers with functional nutritional upgrades within familiar everyday bakery formats.

The launch arrives as food manufacturers increasingly formulate functional nutrients directly into high-frequency bakery staples, enabling shoppers to enhance daily macronutrient intake across breakfast sandwiches, burgers, and midday deli meals without altering established consumption habits.

"Eating better shouldn't have to mean giving up the foods you enjoy," said Michael Calise, President of Calise Bakery. "We wanted to take something as familiar and versatile as a great roll and give consumers more of what they're looking for today, including more fibre and protein, while staying true to the taste and texture that have defined Calise for generations."

Nutritional Formulations and Product Specifications

The Higher Fibre portfolio introduces two foundational bakery formats calibrated for diverse meal occasions:

🥪 Higher Fibre Soft Kaiser Rolls: Deliver 9g of dietary fibre and 9g of protein alongside 120 calories per serving, developed as a versatile carrier for breakfast proteins, grilled burgers, and deli sandwiches.

🥖 Higher Fibre Soft Sub Rolls: Formulated with 10g of dietary fibre and 10g of protein with 140 calories per portion, engineered as an elongated base for hot and cold submarine sandwiches and quick-service lunch builds.

Both formulations achieve reduced net carbohydrate counts and lower caloric profiles without incorporating artificial colourings or synthetic flavour systems.

In addition, the production run aligns with the company's established allergen-conscious standards: both rolls are manufactured free from tree nuts, peanuts, dairy, eggs, and sesame seeds. The recipes also exclude trans fats, high fructose corn syrup, artificial chemical preservatives, and hydrogenated oils, addressing expanding consumer scrutiny over ambient bread ingredient decks.

Commercial Availability

Calise Bakery Higher Fibre Soft Kaiser Rolls and Soft Sub Rolls are rolling out across commercial grocery retailers and supermarket multiples throughout the bakery's distribution footprint.
