The Coca-Cola Company’s sports drink brand BODYARMOR has entered the carbonated beverage sector with the launch of BODYARMOR FIT, representing the brand’s first-ever sparkling sports drink.
The product rollout, which commenced on 1 June 2026, introduces a carbonated alternative to traditional still sports drinks, packaged in a 12oz slim aluminium can. The format shift marks the first time the brand has utilised a can format rather than its signature plastic bottles, targeting a broader demographic of consumers who seek functional hydration options to integrate into their daily, active routines.
The launch is entering retail and digital distribution networks nationwide, providing grocery, convenience, and mass-market partners with a premium, zero-sugar option in the functional beverage aisle.
Portfolio Diversification and Packaging Evolution
The decision to develop a sparkling sports drink highlights a broader transition within the functional hydration category, where consumer usage is expanding beyond structured athletic workouts into daily, lifestyle-oriented consumption.
To capture this shifting consumer behaviour, BODYARMOR has modified both its product format and packaging architecture. By launching in a 12oz slim can, the brand is positioning the product to compete directly in the high-growth sparkling water and functional energy drink sectors.
The packaging update is designed to improve shelf-space versatility, allowing retailers to merchandise the brand in premium beverage coolers and grab-and-go checkout displays alongside traditional carbonated soft drinks.
According to Sara Weaver, Vice President of Brand Marketing at BODYARMOR, the product line represents a natural evolution of the brand's portfolio. She noted that consumers are staying active in different ways throughout the day, and the sparkling format is engineered to fit into those daily routines while continuing to deliver the high electrolyte levels expected of the brand.
Functional Formulation and Flavour Profiles
The new carbonated range is manufactured with a focus on ingredient transparency, containing no artificial flavours, synthetic sweeteners, or chemical dyes.
To appeal to health-conscious consumers, the zero-sugar formulation combines traditional sports drink hydration metrics with active, functional ingredients. The technical specifications of the range include:
Electrolyte Density: Each 12oz can delivers 290mg of electrolytes to support hydration and fluid balance.
Moderate Stimulant Base: Infused with 60mg of caffeine sourced from green tea extract (EGCG) to support physical energy.
Cognitive Support: Fortified with choline alongside green tea extract to aid mental focus.
The summer product rollout comprises five distinct fruit-forward configurations:
🍓 Mixed Berry – A classic, sweet blend of natural berry flavours.
🌴 Tropical Passionfruit – An exotic, tart passionfruit profile.
🍊 Citrus Grapefruit – A bright, clean, and sharp citrus flavour.
🥭 Orange Mango – A tropical, sweet pairing of ripe mango and orange.
🍉 Watermelon Lime – A refreshing, sweet watermelon base finished with a zesty touch of lime.
Multi-Channel Marketing and Brand Campaign
To support the commercial rollout and generate immediate brand awareness, BODYARMOR is launching a dedicated digital and physical marketing campaign titled "Fitness Never Rests."
The campaign features professional football quarterback Joe Burrow, a long-time brand partner, and will be distributed across digital, social, out-of-home (OOH), and in-store retail platforms. By connecting the functional benefits of the sparkling beverages with a prominent athlete's daily routine, the campaign aims to reframe hydration as an everyday lifestyle tool rather than a product reserved exclusively for intense gym workouts.
The launch of the sparkling line is integrated into BODYARMOR's broader "Choose Better" masterbrand platform, which is designed to encourage consumer brand switching and support the company's long-term volume growth goals within the competitive global sports drink industry.
