Babybel has announced the launch of Babybel PRO, a new product designed to capture market share in the rapidly growing functional food sector. The new snack cheese combines protein and probiotics in a single, convenient format, targeting modern consumers seeking nutritional benefits beyond traditional snack offerings.
According to 2025 Mintel data cited by the company, there is an increasing consumer demand for functional foods that deliver health benefits outside of established formats like protein bars, shakes, and yoghurt. Babybel PRO aims to fill this gap by offering a savoury alternative in the functional snacking aisle.
Jessica Dillon, Senior Brand Director for Babybel, noted that the product was developed to bridge the gap between nutritional benefits and traditional snack enjoyment, expanding the brand's portfolio to meet evolving shopper expectations.
Product Formulation and Nutritional Profile
The new Babybel PRO is formulated with four real ingredients and is made from 100 percent real cheese. The nutritional profile for each individually wrapped, 50-calorie serving includes
5 grams of protein
1 billion live and active LGG probiotics
By utilising its signature red wax packaging and mini-sized format, the brand is positioning Babybel PRO as a highly portable snacking solution suitable for active, on-the-go lifestyles.
Retail Rollout and Portfolio Expansion
The launch of Babybel PRO represents the brand's ninth variety in its current lineup, which includes a range of dairy cheeses and plant-based alternatives.
Babybel PRO is currently available at Target and select regional retailers. The company is executing a phased retail strategy, with distribution expanding to Walmart and Kroger in March. A broader nationwide rollout is planned throughout 2026. The product carries a suggested retail price of $8.49 for a 12-count pack.
