PepsiCo Food: Snack Brands are Innovating Restaurant Menus in Unexpected Ways
PepsiCo food brands and flavours are no strangers to the snack aisle, but lately, they’ve been showing up in places consumers might not expect. Doritos are tucked under shawarma proteins at Osmow’s or piled high as nachos at Subway, and Flamin’ Hot seasoning is adding heat to boneless chicken wings.

PepsiCo is accelerating its foodservice and culinary partnership strategy, integrating core snack brands and seasonings directly into restaurant, quick-service, and convenience menus.
By translating recognised retail snack brands like Doritos and Flamin’ Hot into hot food applications, the enterprise is expanding its footprint into prepared meal occasions. The culinary platform bridges consumer packaged goods (CPG) brand loyalty with out-of-home dining, deploying social listening and consumer trend research to co-develop finished dishes alongside foodservice operators and grocery delis.

Translating Snacks into Foodservice Formats
The product development pipeline relies on tracking consumer behaviour, search traffic, social media commentary, and foodservice data to identify emerging flavour pairings and consumer recipe adaptations.
PepsiCo's internal culinary teams work directly with restaurant partners and commercial chefs to translate popular recipe modifications into scalable menu items. This collaborative approach allows operators to leverage established brand recognition to drive trial, enhance menu differentiation, and capture incremental footfall across lunch, dinner, and snacking dayparts.
Janelle Rowe, Senior Vice President of Foodservice at PepsiCo, stated that consumer feedback and fan engagement have directly informed the development of branded hot food items, providing commercial partners with proven concept validation prior to deployment.
“Consumer insights like this are truly invaluable, providing us with fans’ endorsement for exciting menu items featuring PepsiCo brands at franchises, restaurants and retail partners."
Menu Collaborations and Formats
PepsiCo’s recent foodservice activations span quick-service restaurant networks, grocery hot bars, and international franchise systems:
🍗 Flamin’ Hot Boneless Chicken Wings: Deployed across approximately 1,000 Kroger stores and nationwide Circle K convenience locations, bringing the brand's spicy seasoning profile to supermarket hot delis and grab-and-go warming units, with broader retail expansion scheduled for September.
🧀 Doritos Hot Honey Nachos at Subway: Launched in August 2026 across Subway locations, combining Doritos Nacho Cheese tortilla chips with vegetables, melted cheese, and Subway's signature Hot Honey sauce, building upon the previous year's Doritos Footlong Nachos release.
🍗 KFC x Doritos Loaded: Rolled out across 27 European markets, pairing KFC's 100 per cent chicken breast crispy tenders with Doritos chips, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and sauces inside a custom horizontal bag that functions as a serving tray.
🌯 The Walking Shawarma at Osmow’s: A Canadian market collaboration combining Mediterranean spiced proteins and garlic sauces directly inside a single-serve bag of Doritos Sweet Chilli Heat! chips.

Commercial Impact for Foodservice Operators
For foodservice and retail partners, integrating established CPG brands into core menu items provides immediate product differentiation supported by pre-existing consumer affinity.
By translating ambient snack products into prepared meal occasions, restaurant operators can introduce trending flavour combinations, such as sweet-and-spicy profiles and loaded snacking formats, without establishing extensive bespoke supply chains. Concurrently, the platform enables PepsiCo to expand consumption occasions beyond traditional retail snacking aisles into high-velocity away-from-home channels.
