Small domestic appliance manufacturer nutribullet has announced Protein Caramel Horchata Ice Cream as its first Flavour of the Year. The announcement follows the completion of the brand's global "Scoops Around the World" digital marketing campaign, which was designed to support nutribullet's expansion into the frozen dessert appliance category with the rollout of the nutribullet Chill.
The consumer voting initiative brought together culinary creators across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific to showcase regional ingredient profiles, highlighting consumer interest in high-protein, dairy-free, and globally inspired frozen treats.
Global Flavour Campaign
The "Scoops Around the World" campaign served as a multi-market promotional vehicle to demonstrate the versatility of countertop frozen dessert makers. The initiative featured recipes developed by digital content creators across ten international markets, allowing consumers to vote on their preferred formulation.
The campaign highlighted several regional dessert concepts:
🇪🇸 Spain: Protein Caramel Horchata Ice Cream, a dairy-free, refined-sugar-free formulation combining cinnamon, dates, caramel notes, and added protein.
🇲🇽 Mexico and United States: Traditional horchata and Latin American-inspired spice and grain profiles adapted for home frozen dessert processing.
🇬🇧 United Kingdom and Europe: Traditional dairy and confectionery dessert profiles adapted from UK, Italian, and Polish culinary formats.
🇵🇭 Asia-Pacific: Tropical fruit and regional flavour combinations representing the Philippines, Thailand, and Australia and New Zealand.
The winning Protein Caramel Horchata formulation reflects broader consumer purchasing shifts toward functional indulgence, where traditional flavour profiles are re-engineered with high-protein and plant-based ingredient bases.
Technical Specifications
The campaign marks a broader category diversification strategy for nutribullet, extending its core brand equity from personal blenders into specialised countertop food preparation hardware.
The nutribullet Chill represents the company's first dedicated entry into the home frozen dessert maker segment. The hardware is engineered to process non-traditional bases, such as high-protein liquids, frozen fruit, and plant-based milk alternatives, into churned frozen desserts.
Key technical features of the appliance include:
360DoubleCream Blade Technology: A proprietary dual-direction, double-sided blade mechanism designed to churn dense mixtures and deliver consistent emulsification.
Multi-Preset Functionality: Features five distinct one-touch operational programmes: Gelato, Ice Cream, Sorbet, Frozen Yoghurt, and Smoothie Bowls.
Thermal Insulation: Built with an insulated double-walled freeze bowl to maintain low processing temperatures during the churning cycle.
Functional Frozen Desserts
The introduction of the frozen dessert appliance and the accompanying flavour campaign align with sustained growth in home-prepared functional food. Consumer interest in controlling ingredients, particularly regarding sugar reduction and protein fortification, continues to drive hardware innovation in the kitchen appliance sector.
Mallory Jurich, Vice President of Marketing at Capital Brands, parent company of nutribullet, stated that the campaign demonstrated broad international demand for versatile frozen treat preparation. Jurich noted that the nutribullet Chill was developed to allow consumers to process complex, international flavour profiles and better-for-you formulations directly on household countertops.
