I.T.S, the independent British flavour house, has unveiled ambitious plans to construct one of the largest natural flavour manufacturing sites in the UK. The company has acquired an 8.2-acre industrial estate near Hungerford, west of Newbury, and has committed an initial investment of over £10 million to develop the facility.
The expansion is designed to support the company’s rapid trajectory, with I.T.S currently reporting year-on-year growth of approximately 35%.
20x Capacity Increase
The new site, strategically located with links to the M4 motorway, will involve a full redevelopment of existing factory structures and office extensions. Upon completion—anticipated in 12 to 18 months—the facility is expected to deliver a massive operational upgrade.
I.T.S projects the new hub will provide 20 times more production capacity across liquid and powdered flavours compared to its current footprint. It will also enable scalable production of extracts and compounds, significantly broadening the company's technical capabilities for food and beverage manufacturers.
Strategic Independence
Founded in 2009 by Mike Bagshaw, I.T.S has carved out a niche in the sector by focusing on agility and innovation ("brave" flavours) in a market often dominated by global conglomerates.
Bagshaw framed the investment as a commitment to scaling while maintaining the company’s independent status.
"This investment is a major step forward for I.T.S which began at a kitchen table 16 years ago," Bagshaw stated. "My mantra has always been to be ‘brave’, scale big, have fun and stay independent. Our goal is to become the world’s most-loved flavour house."
Operational Continuity and Jobs
The company confirmed that its existing sites in Newbury, which currently house production and R&D, will remain operational and are also undergoing extensions. The new Hungerford development is expected to drive recruitment, creating job opportunities across the Swindon, Marlborough, Hungerford, and Newbury catchment areas.
