Pacific Northwest dairy brand Alpenrose has announced a major restructuring of its manufacturing footprint, confirming plans to cease production at its facility in Clackamas, Oregon, effective 31 March 2026.
The decision marks a consolidation of operations designed to streamline the business. While the Clackamas site—responsible for butter, sour cream, and ice cream mix manufacturing—will wind down, the company has assured consumers that the brand remains active. Fresh milk production will continue at the company's facility in Kent, Washington, ensuring that Alpenrose milk and cottage cheese remain available at grocery stores across the region.
Asset Disposition and Potential Auction
To facilitate the transition, Alpenrose has retained Harry Davis & Company (HDC), a specialist in dairy industry asset sales, to market the Clackamas operations.
The strategy involves seeking a strategic operator to acquire the turnkey facility. However, HDC has confirmed that if a buyer is not identified in advance, the equipment assets will be offered at a public auction scheduled for Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
Lenny Davis, CEO of Harry Davis & Company, highlighted the significance of the assets entering the secondary market:
"The opportunity to acquire the Clackamas facility, with its capability to produce butter, ice cream mix, and cultured products, is one we rarely see become available. This facility has tremendous heritage and brand recognition, so we expect it to generate significant interest in the butter marketplace along with various other dairy segments."
The sale represents a rare opportunity for competitors or new entrants to acquire scaled production capacity for cultured dairy products in the Pacific Northwest region.
