Functional beverage brand Odyssey Functional Energy has announced a major expansion into the workplace sector, securing a national partnership with micro-market operator Canteen. The deal will see the brand roll out across more than 8,100 workplace micro markets in the United States, targeting the professional demographic during working hours.
The expansion is strategically enabled by Odyssey securing Foodbuy approval, granting it access to Compass Group’s national Group Purchasing Organisation (GPO). This status effectively opens the door to the wider Compass ecosystem, including divisions such as Bon Appétit Management Company, Chartwells Higher Education, and Eurest USA.
The Foodbuy Approval
The Foodbuy designation is a critical logistical milestone for the brand. It simplifies procurement for enterprise accounts and allows for a streamlined national rollout through Vistar distribution.
This infrastructure supports Odyssey's ambition to scale beyond traditional retail into corporate dining, healthcare systems, and educational institutions. The brand already holds placement experience in major corporate headquarters—including Uber, Meta, and SpaceX—positioning this Canteen deal as the next phase of mass adoption in the B2B sector.
Pineapple Mango Lead
The initial rollout will be anchored by Odyssey’s top-performing SKU, Pineapple Mango, from its high-potency 222mg caffeine line.
Functional Formulation: The beverage is engineered to support focus and mood without the "crash" associated with high-sugar energy drinks.
Active Ingredients: Organic Lion's Mane and Cordyceps mushrooms.
Energy Blend: Green tea-derived caffeine, Panax Ginseng, and L-Theanine.
Clean Label: No added sugar or artificial ingredients.
Scott Frohman, Founder and CEO of Odyssey Functional Energy, commented on the strategic focus of the workplace channel:
"Partnering with Canteen puts Odyssey directly in front of consumers where energy matters most – during the workday. With Foodbuy approval, we can expand across the broader Compass ecosystem, giving us the infrastructure to scale clean, functional energy nationwide."
Commercial Rollout
The national rollout commences in January 2026, with immediate availability confirmed in key Canteen markets:
Midsouth: North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky.
Pacific: Oregon, California, Washington.
Midwest: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nebraska, Minnesota.
