UK flavour manufacturer JPL Flavours has officially inaugurated its new global headquarters in Bromborough, Wirral, following an £11 million investment.
The move marks a significant expansion for the company, relocating operations to a 75,000 sq ft site designed to drastically increase production capacity and R&D capabilities. Since commencing trading nine years ago, JPL has rapidly established itself as a key player in the domestic supply chain, distinguishing itself as the UK’s only flavourist-owned flavour house.
State-of-the-Art R&D Facilities
The new headquarters is engineered to function as a hub for collaborative innovation. The site houses 16 technical labs, including a dedicated customer laboratory where clients can work "bench-side" with JPL’s team to develop bespoke formulations for soft drinks, snacks, and sweet treats.
To drive efficiency, the facility integrates advanced manufacturing technologies, including AI-supported processes designed to streamline flavour development and production workflows.
Flavourist-Led Growth
JPL positions its ownership structure—led by experts with hands-on creation experience rather than pure corporate management—as a core competitive advantage. This technical focus has driven the design of the new site, prioritising "immersive experiences" for food and beverage partners.
Jake Lavelle, Managing Director and Founder of JPL Flavours, commented on the strategic ambition behind the build:
“We’re on a mission to raise the bar in digital innovation for the flavour industry. We’ve built the new headquarters with efficiency, sustainability and innovation in mind, and we can’t wait to show our customers. The new premises will provide a great home for the team and a place where our ideas can come to life.”
Impact on UK Manufacturing
The investment underscores a commitment to domestic manufacturing at a time when many supply chains are facing global pressures. By expanding its footprint in the North West, JPL Flavours aims to offer faster turnaround times and closer technical support to the UK food and drink industry.
