The Real Good Foods Company, Inc. has announced a strategic expansion into the shelf-stable grocery aisle, launching a new line of Flour Tortillas.

The product debut marks a significant evolution for the brand, traditionally known for its frozen and refrigerated low-carb entrees. By entering the pantry staple segment, Real Good Foods is targeting the health-conscious consumer seeking better nutritional density in everyday carriers like burritos and wraps.

Culinary-First Formulation

Real Good Foods positions the new tortilla as a "meaningful evolution" of the traditional staple. The R&D process focused on overcoming the textural deficits often found in low-carb competitors, which frequently rely on heavy doses of added fibres and gums that result in a gummy mouthfeel.

Key Technical Specifications:

  • Nutritional Profile: Delivers high protein and fibre content with low net carbs.

  • Clean Label Focus: Formulated explicitly without seed oils, a growing concern for wellness-focused demographics.

  • Performance: Designed to mimic the pliability and taste of conventional flour tortillas, suitable for applications ranging from breakfast wraps to heavy lunch burritos.

Centre Store Expansion

The launch represents a pivotal move for the company as it seeks to capture consumption occasions beyond the freezer aisle.

Rikki Ingram, Chief Marketing Officer at Real Good Foods, explained the strategic rationale: "Expanding into shelf-stable products opens the door for new ways consumers can incorporate Real Good Foods into everyday meals. Our customers are looking for pantry staples that support their nutrition goals without sacrificing taste or ease, and we created these tortillas with that balance in mind."

The company views this as the first step in a broader push into the "centre of the store," identifying future opportunities for high-protein innovation in categories such as wraps, snacks, and chips.

Commercial Availability

The product has secured a major initial retail footprint. The tortillas will debut in Costco's Southeast and California divisions, providing immediate access to high-volume club shoppers.
