Condiment giant HEINZ has announced a significant packaging innovation within the foodservice sector, unveiling "The HEINZ Dipper." The new patent-pending vessel is a re-engineered fry box featuring a built-in ketchup compartment, designed specifically to facilitate on-the-go dipping.


Starting today, the packaging solution is debuting at participating restaurants and sports stadiums across eleven countries, marking the brand's most widespread global activation to date.



Design Innovation: Solving the 'Dashboard Balance'

The development of the HEINZ Dipper addresses a specific consumer friction point: the logistical difficulty of consuming fries and condiments in mobile environments, such as drive-thrus or stadiums.


HEINZ cites internal research indicating that 70% of ketchup and fry lovers have spilled sauce while dipping on the go, while 80% admit to skipping condiments entirely due to the lack of suitable packaging. The new design integrates a dedicated reservoir directly into the fry carton, eliminating the need for balancing loose sachets or pots.



The 'Away From Home' Channel

The launch serves as a strategic test for expanded distribution within HEINZ's "Away from Home" channel. By embedding the brand's utility directly into the serving vessel, HEINZ aims to strengthen its role in the growing drive-thru and convenience eating occasions.


Nina Patel, Vice President, Global Heinz Brand at the Kraft Heinz Company, commented on the design philosophy:

“After spotlighting the uncanny resemblance between fry boxes and our iconic HEINZ Keystone globally, we wanted to take the next bold step: redesigning the age-old fry box to work even harder for our HEINZ lovers everywhere. As more eating occasions happen away from home in drive-thrus and on-the-go moments, the HEINZ Dipper is a fun and relevant way to innovate to meet fans where they are.”


Global Rollout Footprint

The initiative launches simultaneously across eleven diverse markets, signalling a coordinated push to standardise the dipping experience globally.


Participating Markets:

  • North America: United States (six cities), Canada, Mexico.

  • South America: Brazil.

  • Europe: Germany, Italy, Portugal.

  • Asia & Middle East: Philippines, Thailand, China, Kuwait.


The HEINZ Dipper will be available at select partner locations while supplies last, with the potential for broader adoption pending the results of this global pilot.
