Direct-to-consumer speciality roaster Bones Coffee Company has announced the strategic return of two limited-edition flavours to capitalise on the upcoming Valentine's Day gifting and consumption window.

Launching exclusively via the brand's digital platform on 21 January 2026, the release brings back cult favourites Red Velvet and Coco Crush. The launch is underpinned by consumer insights suggesting a shift in holiday behaviour, with couples increasingly trading crowded restaurants for "cosy nights in" where coffee serves as a central ritual.

The Final Run for Red Velvet

A key driver for this campaign is the announced retirement of the Red Velvet SKU. The company has confirmed that following the 2026 season, this specific flavour profile will enter the "Bones Coffee crypt," making this release the final opportunity for fans to purchase the product.

Flavour Profiles:

🍰 Red Velvet: A decadent profile crafted with 100% Arabica beans, infused with notes of rich chocolate cake and a hint of cream cheese frosting.

🥥 Coco Crush: A tropical-inspired "dreamy" blend, merging coconut notes with the delicate sweetness of a French macaron.

Formats and Availability

To maximise accessibility across different brewing methods, both flavours are available in three formats:

  • 12-oz Whole Bean

  • 12-oz Ground

  • Bones Cups® (Single-serve pods)

Travis Rule, CEO and Co-Owner of Bones Coffee Company, commented on the positioning of coffee as a gifting alternative:

"Valentine's Day is all about indulgence, and these flavours deliver comfort, nostalgia, and fun in every sip. Red Velvet is our seasonal classic, and Coco Crush brings a playful, romantic twist that our community absolutely loves."

The brand cites data indicating that nearly half of consumers would prefer receiving a fresh cup of coffee from their partner over traditional gifts like flowers, validating the strategy to position these limited-edition brews as thoughtful, functional gifts.
