The latest food and beverage industry news and trend analysis

Seenergy Foods, the Canadian family-owned manufacturer of frozen ready-to-eat ingredients, has announced a major expansion of its North American operations. The company has officially opened its second production facility and launched a new Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) pasta line, positioning itself to supply millions of ready-to-eat meals weekly across the U.S. and Canada.

This infrastructure investment comes as the company reports it is approaching $100 million in annual revenue, driven by surging demand from foodservice operators, manufacturers, and retailers for operationally efficient, plant-forward ingredients.

Operational Leadership and Scaling

The expansion is overseen operationally by brothers Ativ and Sam Ajmera, who manage the company's day-to-day activities. Under their leadership, Seenergy Foods has grown into one of North America's largest dedicated producers of IQF grains, beans, rice, and custom blends.

Ativ Ajmera commented on the strategic milestone:

"Opening our second facility is a major milestone. Sam and I run every part of the operation, and this expansion gives us the capacity to grow, innovate, and continue delivering high-quality ingredients our customers in the U.S. and Canada rely on."

High-Volume IQF Pasta

A key component of the expansion is the installation of a new IQF pasta line. Specifically designed for short-format varieties, this line targets high-volume foodservice and prepared food applications where consistency and labour reduction are critical.

By offering pre-cooked, frozen pasta solutions, Seenergy Foods helps operators minimise back-of-house labour and ensure product consistency across multi-unit chains. This new capability complements an existing portfolio of over 150 IQF ready-to-eat ingredients.

The 'Plant-Forward' Driver

The growth of Seenergy Foods reflects broader shifts in the institutional and commercial food sectors. The company cites rising demand for "plant-forward" options as a primary growth driver. By supplying ready-to-use grains, legumes, and now pasta, Seenergy enables airlines, institutions, and restaurant chains to rapidly assemble healthy, plant-based meals without the complexity of raw ingredient preparation.

Quality Assurance

Seenergy Foods operates GFSI-certified facilities, ensuring that its expanded capacity meets the rigorous food safety and quality standards required by major North American retail and foodservice partners.
