Shake Shack Inc. has announced a significant expansion of its executive leadership team, appointing Jim Taylor as its first Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).


Effective Tuesday, 20 January, Taylor will report directly to CEO Rob Lynch. The creation of the CCO role marks a strategic shift in the company’s management structure, consolidating oversight of critical growth engines under a single leader.



Unifying Marketing and Culinary

In this new capacity, Taylor is tasked with leading Shake Shack’s marketing and culinary divisions. His remit extends to overseeing the brand’s end-to-end revenue and growth strategy, ensuring a cohesive approach to menu innovation and commercial execution as the chain continues to scale.


Rob Lynch, Chief Executive Officer of Shake Shack, commented on the strategic value of the appointment:

"Jim is a proven leader with a track record of success across some of the most iconic brands in our industry. He brings unique expertise in building high performing teams, developing thoughtful commercial strategies and executing bold innovation that delivers outsized results for brands while preserving what makes them truly special."


Executive Profile and Track Record

Taylor joins Shake Shack with over 25 years of experience in the restaurant and consumer packaged goods (CPG) sectors. His career is defined by high-profile turnaround and growth stories.


  • Inspire Brands: Spent over 11 years at the conglomerate, most recently serving as President of Sonic.

  • Arby's: Previously held roles including President and Chief Marketing Officer, where he is credited with revitalising the brand through a comprehensive strategy that delivered 12 consecutive years of sales growth.

  • Darden Restaurants: Led marketing and menu transformations for Red Lobster and Olive Garden.

  • Procter & Gamble: Began his career shaping Old Spice into a market leader.
